It weighed between 1.5 and 2 pounds. A true giant bluegill.

I’m entering Esau’s redear from 5/27.

We started out going to The Old School Trading Post to get some crickets. Esau was really excited to see the minnows in the tank and Chris let him help get the crickets out of the box to put in the bucket. He really enjoyed his first trip to the bait shop. Then I took Esau to West Island (the name of the stripper pit on the property where my Mamaw/his Great Mamaw lives). He caught this fish on the first cast of the day. I didn’t get a tape on it, but I’d guess it was in the 10”-11” range. Compared to the dink bluegill in the local park pond he struggled a bit reeling in the fish, but I got him to keep with it.

Not a bad fish for his first at the family’s fishing hole.

daybreak: Always loved Labor Day weekend. Time for those jet skis and speed boats to go back in storage and make room on the lakes for us fishermen again. (:))
