There's a guy near Midland that does a good job. I can't remember his name, but Troy should have his info. That would be Johnny May, he's right off 59 between Midland and Linton. He's had some health issues but I think he has family members that help now. I can't find his number but Chase might have it?

Well yesterday was a little windy to be sitting in a tree (I had a family reunion yesterday anyway). Today wasn't really great for golf or deer hunting but I played golf anyway. Just need to make it through this week. I have to work Saturday too so vacation doesn't start Friday evening like it should. Good to hear you out & enjoying life!! I got to hunt 1,2 & 3 but it was hot , I saw a lot of doe . Where is a reputable place to take a deer for processing ? I was thinking Terra haute would have something. I normally take mine to Hamilton's in Jasonville. I'm not sure if he has opened the shop up yet. I believe he waits until it's closer to gun season before he starts taking in deer. With me hunting in Greene Co if I get one and Hamilton's isn't open then I would go to Stahl's in Bloomfield. I'm really not sure of any processor's in or around Sullivan.

Holy cow were the deer moving today. Was turning a huge valve at work this evening at sunset and took a breather for a minute and looked up at a buck checking me out at 40 yards. He walked off to a firehouse across the road before heading into the woods. Got off at 11:30 and saw a few more bucks chasing in Vigo county before making it home. Looking like a great time to be out but I still have 48hrs to work in the next 4 days.

I'll be out there tomorrow!!

Anybody having any luck this season? This has been a really strange season for me thus far. Usually by now the rut is in full swing up here where I hunt in the northern part of the state. However, I haven't seen anything that would indicate that the rut is even close to happening! I am seeing a few does on nearly every sit but I haven't seen one buck come and check the girls out yet. There is still a lot of standing corn up here and I'm sure that is affecting my deer sightings. Usually by now the harvest season is over for 95% of the farmers. Not the case this year. Big rains every 4-5 days are keeping them out of the fields. Last year I shot my buck on October 25th, the night before I shot him I saw 3 quality bucks that would come out and check every doe that entered the field I was sitting over. The night I shot my buck he was heading out to check a group of does in the middle of the field. He had to walk right past me to get to them. Rut seems very late to me this year. Of course, everything is late. Leaves are just starting to fall real good here and normally they are pretty much done falling by now. I'm losing my patience!

I saw a small buck chasing a doe yesterday. I’d say the mature bucks are locked up with the early does at this point, but they should be on the prowl again soon.
There is a bunch of standing corn still around my grandma’s house, but I’ve still seen a few deer on every sit, well before today anyway. With all the rain I’m not sure when they’ll be able to harvest the corn at this point.

I haven't even been in the woods yet. I'm starting to wonder if I'm even an outdoorsman anymore? From what I'm hearing though things are hot n heavy around here. Got this pic from Monty yesterday of a good buck in his back yard locked up with a doe and then today he sent a text saying he saw 2 more different bucks chasing does.

The rut is in full swing here. I've seen three different shooters from the stand the past few evenings. They are grunting and chasing. Almost had a chance at a nice one this evening chasing two does but he didn't get closer than 50 yards.

I’ll be on stand tomorrow morning . I’ve never taken a full week & am pumped up !!!

I got this guy Monday at 1:30pm. I decided to have a long afternoon sit and got to the stand early. I wasn't there 10 minutes and he popped up. Think he was bedded about 40 yards in front of me in some thick stuff. It was a chore getting him out of there too. Maybe next year I'll hold off for something bigger.
