I took Thursday off work to get some "work" done before I got to spend a weekend as Mr. mom. Had a gobblefest at our farm. Birds didn't really fire up until pretty late but when they did it was on. Had one roosting close and at least four more a little farther from where I was set up. A hen came out in the field early and fed away from me. The toms were still on the roost. The one close to me was having a sound off with another one finally a different tom and two jakes came into the field and quickly make their way to my single hen decoy and I shot the tom at 40 yards. Interestingly the two jakes each had a beard at least 6" and were big. I really didn't know they were jakes until they were in full strut. Must have been an early hatch last year, I talked to another hunter that killed a big jake this year. I shot mine at 7:10 am, he was 21 lb, 10.5" beard and 7/8" spurs. A decent two year old I'd guess. They were still gobbling when I collected my bird and had another tom come in when I was picking up.

Nice Jon! Hearing how the birds have been so fired up is making me wish I'd hunted this spring. The simplest way to post a pic is the "Add Attachment" box that should be in the upper right when you're making a post or replying. Or you can can text it to me.. 81two-seven98-966seven
