Hit the water in my new yak yesterday to test the canoe seat I installed and throw around a rooster tail in hopes for a few crappie. Unfortunately the crappie weren't interested, but I ended the evening with 5 bass, 2 nice gills, a slab redear, and 2 rainbow trout! These are the first trout that I have ever caught and I had a great time fighting those little guys. One went 11.5" and another went 12.5". I lost three other trout on the way in, including one that must have been 14". Not bad for only an hour and a half of fishing. Oh yeah, the new seat is super comfy too. Could sit in it all day without butt/back pain.

Thanks. Can't wait to get back on the water and get a few more. I tried them using a googled recipe using dill and thyme and it was pretty good. I think next time I'll try them blackened.

Those trout are a blast on an UL rig.
Seems the trout in Midland are fans of a rooster tail.
