It's been awhile since I've been on here. Ive had barely anytime for hunting this year because of a job in Kansas we've been working on for a few months. I've managed a couple small does this year in the first week and this past week has been my first week back in Indiana since. I've sat all day everyday this entire week and have noticed a very slow paced rut it seems. I would only see about 15-20 does and a couple dink bucks one day and then be lucky to see a single deer the next. To me so far it's seeming like this year is a trickle rut just wondering what you guys have seen In your areas? My buddy tagged along Saturday and smoked a big old doe and let's just say thing we're pretty torn up back in the baby making factory so I'm wondering if I may have just come home right during lock down? Also the buck to doe ratio at my new hunting property is pretty screwed up (around 1 buck to 5 doe) so my best logic says if it is lockdown the big boys are too busy breeding and aren't really moving much in daylight.

Hey Jordan, good to hear from you again! Wish I could help but I haven't even been in the woods yet. Spent last weekend traveling with my girlfriend and her daughter to pick up a poodle and go to Chuck E Cheese....I need to get in a tree before my man card is revoked!!!

I passed on three bucks last Sunday evening in Morgan County. None of them were chasing or sniffing the ground. They just seemed to be out for a leisurely stroll. Didn't even see a doe that they might be following. Heading back down there today in about half an hour. If there is any change, I will report.
Good Luck to you!!!

That's kindve what I noticed on some of the young bucks I've seen as well nat. I went and pulled the cards on my cameras tonight and the ridge on the edge of my property that my double stand is on was torn up in buck sign. 5 scrapes and probably 15 rubs in a 50 yard by 50 yard area but the scrapes had not been tended in the last week at least and the rubs looked a few weeks old as well not sure what to think. One of the cameras had a buck named splits on it (~160in buck that's well known in the neighborhood) but he came through at 2 am other than that just a few doe and a couple dink bucks. I may just plan on hunting pinch points opening day and keeping an eye on the field below me to see if any bucks are chasing does in it. Troy you better be in the woods Saturday or it's officially revoked!

This evening I had a really nice 8 with broken tines grunting all around me. He made a few scrapes and chased some smaller bucks away. Not for sure If he had a doe around but he was very territorial. If I would have had a clear shot I would have taken it.

The bucks were chasing and grunting today near Martinsville!! I passed on another small 8 pointer. My buddy saw two nice shooter bucks chasing and grunting, but couldn't get a shot at either on. One of them was a really big buck. Game on!!!!!!!!

I contacted the man card police a couple of weeks ago and informed them that you had been getting "soft" on us. They may be knocking on your door very shortly to collect that man card

Well I managed to hunt a couple hours this morning and wow has the rut bomb gone off. I saw 13 different bucks ranging from a nice 140" 10 to a spike buck. I only saw 2 does and both of them had bucks hot on their tails. It's looking like it could get crazy in the morning. Good luck to all of you and be safe!

This year's rut has been one of the best I've seen in years! Even with all the warm temps we've been having the rut has been going strong in my area for a good two weeks and they are still chasing like crazy.

I could have punched my tag 20 minutes into my first hunt of the year on Saturday morning, but passed on a young 8 or 10 point. Was to busy trying to get him on camera to get a good look at his rack. Been out a couple more times and have only seen does.

I have yet to get skunked on a sit although I have had 2 sits where I only saw 1 deer. Most of my sits I've seen at least 10 deer.

It was tag soup for me in firearm season. Didn't get to hunt as much as I was hoping for. I did find an old buddy stand on Gail's property on top of a ridge with a clearing that has some real potential. Wish I would have found it this summer so I could have planted a food plot...it will definitely have one next year. Thinking about getting the crossbow out and at least put some meat in the freezer.

Made the same soup!!! Guess I passed on too many small bucks and does during early archery and general firearm seasons. Definitely time to pull the bow back out. Good luck to you!!
