Yesterday opochtli and I met up at east shovel lake. It quickly went from one of my best panfishing days to worst. I'll start off with the good. We paddled to the end of the lake out of the wind. Immediately I had one nice ear and gill on my stringer. Tony followed shortly after with a dandy. I switched over to a nuclear ant tipped with a cricket and the bluegills loved it. After a couple hours I had probably 12-15 gills on my stringer all of them 8+ inches and 3 of them were dinner plate sized gills. Easily 9+ inches! I paddled over to chat with tony for a minute. Next thing I know I look down and my stringer is gone. Apparently I didn't secure it to the yak good enough. After that I had had enough and decided to pack it up. Tony was gracious enough to send me home with a couple fish. Still makes me sick to my stomach thinking about that stringer. This is the only picture I took of one of the pigs. Attachments:

Dang! That's to bad. Probably a big ol' snapper grabbed it. My grandpa and me had that happen with a basket full of slabs one time. We could see the big thing sitting on the basket down on the bottom. Glad you guys caught some!

I just might be back over there next weekend to try to redeem myself. Haven't checked the forecast yet though. Hopefully Tony took some pics of his mess. I know he had some real nice ones too.

I didn't take any pics unfortunately. I ended up going to Crystal lake afterwards and caught a bunch more medium sized gills. I was so tired and sunburnt by the end of the day that I didn't even think to get some pics. My belly was full of fried fish, fried pickles and Shock Top before I even thought about it. Let me know if you plan on coming back.

Bummer about the stringer, but it sounds like you still had a good day of catching some nice fish.
