Alright, here's a question for you all. I just bought a new choke tube for my shotgun. It's a Carlson's Black Cloud Mid-range extended choke tube.(Full choke) It says it can shoot all steel loads, lead, copper, tungsten loads. My question is, can I shoot 0 buck through it? I thought you are only supposed to shoot slugs through an improved cylinder choke, but idk about buckshot. I'd say I could but I wanted to see what you guys say. I was going to try some close range coyote hunting in the timber for coyotes and wanted to put this new choke to work on them so I can extend my effective range. Here's another question, What shot size do you like to use for coyotes? Suggestions? I know turkey loads will work but what about something with more range, say 40- 50 yards with minimal damage to the fur, although i'd more concerned about dead coyote than good fur.

I bought a box of Hornady's #4 buckshot, supposed to have a wad in it that helps it hold together longer. It was pretty expensive though. $17 for 10. I shot one to see how it does, so now I can kill 9 coyotes. haha I the target up at 45 yards and it didn't do too bad. One thing I noticed, was that I could see the wad go straight to the target with the shot. It appeared it me that the wad went right through the target, but it must have went over it or something. I think these loads will be deadly on coyotes up to 50 yards, maybe 60. There were about 10 pellets that I would say would have hit the "kill zone" of a coyote if the target were the coyotes chest, at 45 yards. plus whatever pellets may have hit him in the neck or head. You could get Hevi-Shot® "Dead Coyote" but that is some outrageously expensive ammo. Cabela's has it for $54.99 a pack, that is 10 shotgun shells. $5.50 a shell . You might kill a coyote with what you are using at the that distance but you may not find it. I'm sure 30 yards would knock them down though.
