I was expecting to see some activity in the deer thread when I got on this morning. I'm pretty surprised there hasn't been any activity. Has anyone been getting out. I've been out 3 times and I have yet to see a deer but I did almost shoot a coyote yesterday evening. My hunting partner saw 3 does and a small 8 point last night. I won't get to go again until at least Wednesday evening.

I was out for the first time yesterday morning, but saw nothing other than squirrels.
I did get to listen to the wood ducks raising a ruckus on my grandma's pond.

Kids have kept me busy. Planning on tomorrow but I also planned for the first 3 day too. Took Oct. 1-3 off work and still couldn't get out.

Nope....work,work,work. Got a couple days off in the middle of the week and might try to get out. Chase has been seeing does, but it sounds like this crazy wind keeps getting him busted. He's also seeing a bunch of wood ducks.

Had a close call with a dandy 8 point yesterday. Had my stretch tube not broke on my peep sight I probably would've gotten him . Dang thing broke when I drew back and so I was using my lips to try and get my peep turned. In the meantime it allowed the buck to get behind a tree and some limbs...and then he was gone . The good news is this is a buck that I never got a picture of on my trail cams this year. Heading in to the season I was feeling a little discouraged because I was not getting hardly any buck pictures. I had a couple of pictures of some decent bucks but nothing huge. This guy has given me some renewed hope for the season. I almost didn't hunt yesterday evening because it was extremely windy here. But, as I was leaving work I thought to myself "if I don't go tonight and the wind really calms down I'm gonna kick myself for not going". So with that in mind, I went. Boy am I glad I did it really calmed down nicely during that last hour of daylight and the deer movement was really good. I had several does and fawns in close as well.

I've been out 4 times. First time out i saw a little 6 point. Second time out the wind started blowing about 30 mph and spitting rain so i went home. Third time out was a saturday morning over my food plot, spooked one right next to my stand about 10 minutes before daylight. Then had 18 hens come in and feed in the food plot at 40 yards. After the turkeys left I was standing up to stretch and was pulling my bow back and just checking to make sure everything was working ok when a doe appeared out of nowhere. I dropped her with a spine shot at about 15 yards. Got it on video but I don't like the fact that I spined her. I really didnt even do any kind of celebration because I kinda felt bad. I was shooting my bow a few days later and it was shooting a little high, idk if it had been bumped or what. But it is nice to have some meat in the freezer. I also went out yesterday to the spot where I had seen some big bucks early last year and had a small doe at 20 yards but i didnt want to mess with her on a school night.

Congrats man! I haven't been seeing much from the stand. I keep spooking them before and after shooting time. Guess they have been mainly moving at night.

I put a doe on the ground yesterday morning...I shot her from a kind of new stand location. I say kind of new because it is only 5 yards from where I had it before. I moved it because the old location was too much in the wide open but I was seeing a lot of deer there. Unfortunately, I was getting busted by many of them too. It was almost impossible to get a shot off. After having 2 encounters with the same buck and not being able to get a shot I decided to move it. So, on Saturday afternoon me and my son went out and I moved it one tree over. The new spot has great cover but still has some excellent shooting lanes. I shot her on my first sit in this stand after moving it. She had no idea I was there! Now I'm ready for a big boy to come creeping by

So I was watching my doe kill video on the computer and was tinkering around with it,and realized that the doe had actually jumped the string , even though I hadnt noticed it when I shot. I paused the video as the arrow made contact, put my finger on the screen where the arrow was, and when I went back to where she was just as I let the arrow go, I found that my finger was laying right on the sweet spot, where I wanted to hit. Just goes to show how fast those deer can react. She was only 15 yards away and still managed to drop about 8-10" from the time my arrow left the bow to the time it made contact. I remember when she first came in, the wind was gusting and she was really nervous about it.

I made it out for the first time on Saturday and hunted Sunday as well. I seen 9, 3 bucks total. The only chance I had at a shot was too late in the day. Pretty sure I was within the legal shooting hours but it was just too dark in the woods for me to see. Wasn't going to risk wounding or an illegal kill. I hunted from the ground last night too. I could faintly make out antlers but I don't know how big. It was 18 yards in front of me. If he would've shown up 5 min earlier I would've known for sure.

I've been keeping an eye on my Hillenbrand FWA spot and no one has been parking there, so Sunday afternoon Chase and me went over to put the groundblind up. Soon as we pulled up I noticed someone had parked there over the weekend and soon as we got in the woods there was a big gut pile.

Only been 3 times. First night out, the girlfriend called because her car broke down, 15 minutes into the hunt. Second time, had a small 6 pointer bed down behind my stand at 30 yards. Third time I watched a small 8 point try to mount a doe and she wanting nothing to do with him. Still trying to get out.
