Had to take a day off to attend to some business this morning, then had the afternoon free to do as I pleased. Went down to the Goose Pond to try for some of those big crappie I've been hearing about, but the wind was crazy there and it wasn't much fun and I never had a bite. Went up the road to Airline and went 0 for 2 on the trout, missed 1 on a rooster tail and this one on the powerbait got off as I was netting it... Sure was a nice day and the mushroom hunters were out in the forest...probably what I should have been doing.

Looks like a nice dock to fish from.
What kind of hooks do you use with the Powerbait?

What kind of hooks do you use with the Powerbait? I'm using size 6 Aberdeen hooks. How bout you?

I'd have to look to be sure, but I think they are size fourteen treble hooks.

Ahhh...that would definitely help the catch rate.

Lots of gut hooked fish, but when they're going in the skillet it doesn't matter.

How long into the spring/summer have you guys caught stocked trout ?
I was gonna try and sneak over for a couple hours to Midland Lake this weekend (too dang busy with other stuff this weekend to get much more than a couple hours) and try it.
I am pretty sure they live year round in a few places they get or got stocked (Island Pit for example) but I wouldn't think they be biting much once the surface heats up. Anybody have success in June in a normal year or all y'all too busy chasing warm water species that you haven't even tried?
Thanks Jay

How long into the spring/summer have you guys caught stocked trout ? I read somewhere that they can't survive water temps over 74, so it won't be too long before they go down deep. I've never caught one here locally except in the spring.

Thanks Greenedog. I think I better get over there and try it soon!
