Took my favorite ice reel off this evening and put it on an ultralight rod, tied on a 1/32oz rooster tail, and headed down to the pond. Caught a couple decent crappie in no time. It felt good!! 1st 2nd

Good catch ! It's hard to beat those 1/32 oz. rooster tails ! I call them my bread and butter lure. They work when nothing else does, and have provided me with many good fish fries ! I even use them to catch flathead bait in the summer. They are really good lures ! Where did you find to buy them ? I've fixed mine so many times that some are about done for. I haven't seen them sold anywhere for years. __________________________________________________
Martinsville Report
We haven't had any fishing reports coming in. Driving around the other day I noticed that some ponds have a little open water, while others looked like they had a very thin layer of ice. It did not look safe to fish on. White river is high and muddy. No Reports.

Those are definitely nice crappie.
I was at the dentist in Linton on Friday, so I stopped by West Island thinking it might be open...nope. I'd say if a feller was brave he could have still walked around on it, but the edges were getting thin. Hopefully it will be opened up by the weekend.

As my cousins from Michigan would say: "Those are some nice specs." Nice and early and already catching fish!
