I'm probably not going to be doing this but I am ready for archery turkey hunting.

I'm ready, but I might have hit a snag with my turkey hunting spot.

Just like the last 2 years I'm not going to buy a license until I know 100% that I will get to go. The last 2 years I did not buy a license. Never had a good opportunity to go. I did buy one in '11 and didn't get to go. Not wasting money like that again.

We were ice fishing a few weeks back at a place I've had permission to hunt/fish for a few years. The property owner's nephew moved into the rental house on the property last fall. He walked up on us while we were fishing just to make sure we weren't trespassing. Through the course of the conversation he mentioned he wanted to start turkey hunting this year, I'm assuming he has seen turkeys walking near the house. I said something about showing him the ropes, but I'm not sure how serious he was about it or if he just thought it'd be easy due to the birds he sees walking around. We also found out that he works with spainy.
I suppose I can still go out there, it's just kind of a bummer thinking you have to share a woods with someone when you had thought you'd be able to slip in and out as you wished. My hope is that he'll be working during the week and I can slip out there opening day, bust a beak and then try to help him out during the weekend.

I've known him a few years. Him and his wife love it out there. They'd been living in the Haute for a while and were glad to get out there.

im ready to try to stomp another gobbler. I havent went a year yet without having killed a bird so hopefully it holds true. Also the carp spawn is coming on fast and that means one thing, bowfishing time!

I dont know if any of you have been getting up bright and early and heading for the woods but i have a couple times and the birds are really getting fired up now. I went the other day and probably heard 3 dozen gobbles from 4-5 different gobblers.

I havent heard any gobbles. I saw one strutting in a field i got permission to hunt tho. Got trail cams out over my food plot to scout, seen fresh tracks around but still no gobbling! Got a pic of a coyote the other morning. hopefully they will start trraveling more and show up about the time season opens or i'll have to go to one of the other spots to turkey hunt

Got a vacation day scheduled for the 25th to go to the NRA convention in Indy. May scrap that idea and head for the woods.
