My cousin, Opie, who we go pheasant hunting with every fall had been thinking about getting a gopro camera so he could start filming his hunts like I did on our Glendale hunt this year. Last night he called to ask me about the JVC Adixxion Action Sports camera. I had never heard of it, but after some quick research it actually sounds better than a gopro....mainly because it has a built in LCD screen, 5X zoom, built in wifi, and can be mounted on a tripod without any special attachments. From the comparison videos I watched, it actually looks smaller than a gopro in a case(the JVC does not need to be in a case.) Right now hhgregg has this camera on clearance for $99.99.....regularly $299.95!  I told Opie that it sounded like a great deal, so he ordered one and also picked up another battery for it for under $20. I sure hope I didn't steer him wrong, but I really don't think so. I thought about driving to the Haute and looking for one but then I remembered I hate driving in the Haute around the holidays or anytime for that matter.  At least I got free shipping with it but I'll have to wait for it. |

I called the local shop and they were out, so I ordered it online.
I'm excited to use it while I'm wading the creeks next year.

Man....Opie or me should be getting a commission on these things!  I was thinking about your creek fishing at work today, Goose, and was hoping you'd be able to get one.  I just couldn't pull the trigger on one myself this week after paying $95 for a roto rooter job the day after Christmas.   Hopefully they'll have some left next payday, but I won't be holding my breath. Oh well, they're probably a piece of junk any how.  Just kidding! |

I decided to watch some reviews on youtube about them and I'm feeling confident about the purchase. Clarity looks good and the built in wifi is a nice touch. When compared to others it has more wind noise than other models but I figure most of my filming would be still shooting and not fast paced through some type of motor vehicle. I'm sure it will happen but I can live with it.

I think you're right about getting some kind of commission. By my count, that's 5 units sold. Read reviews on Amazon where people said it was a good camera for the $$ at $140. $99 was too good to pass up.

I decided to just go ahead and charge one before the deal ended, but the HH Gregg page now just says "Discontinued." Oh well, hopefully Mom will let me borrow hers when I need a 3rd camera. |

The brown truck just dropped off a package and it contains a small video camera! Really...this thing is tiny. It fits in the palm of your hand. Eating supper at the moment. I'll unbox and get some pics here in a bit.

OK, so it took a while for the battery to charge and the next thing I know it's after 11pm. Maybe tomorrow if things cooperate I might shoot a short video but for the time being here's a couple pics to show how small this camera really is.  308 casings.  |
