We got Chase's hunt on video. I'm glad he took that jake when he had the chance because the weather was bad and the toms were henned up. We had a blast and Chase wants to move to Alabama. More details to come...

The Story:It was a nasty morning in L.A. ( lower Alabama ). As we were headed to my cousin's house, it was starting to rain. We got there at 9. We loaded up in his truck and headed to some land he has permission to hunt on. The first setup was pretty cool. Me and Luke were in some brush looking at a food plot, and Dad was with the video camera in a permanent deer stand above us. We didn't see or hear one bird, so we walked back to the truck and headed to another spot.
We were trying some Runnin' and Gunnin' here, but there was more walking up and down big hills than anything. Alabama turkey hunting is a lot different than in the Hoosier state. It seems like the woods go forever there. It was getting closer to noon, and we still hadn't heard a gobble.
So it was time to go to a new spot. It was raining pretty hard now. We were going to setup in a pasture, but we were afraid the birds were already out there. So we setup in the woods and called. The rain was letting up. I used my mouth call for a while and nothing responded. Dad got out the slate and made some soft yelps, purrs, cuts. Then something gobbled around 100 yds away. Dad called again and the gobble was much closer. Within ten minutes we see him, a Jake. He walks right up to the decoys that are 10 yds away. I shoot with the ole' 20 ga. and drop him. It was a very cool and exciting experience hunting in Alabama, we got to meet some real nice people down there.Other pics:Mmmmmm... Smoked Jake
