Looking to possibly trade for an Olympic Arms AR-15. Wondering if any of you guys had any personal experience with this particular gun. As always, opinions on line vary greatly. Not sure about the exact model, but from pics I've found on line, it appears to be an Olympic Plinker Plus in .223. Gun looked relatively new and in really good condition. Came with a scope (not sure what kind), case, two 30 round mags and ~380 rounds. Any idea on a value or quality? Just wondering what y'all thought.

Usually an Olympic ar will run $600 on up. Make sure the ammo is brass case. If it isn't sell it. I've heard too many horror stories about running steel cased shells in an ar.

I had the original OLY plinker it was made on cast receivers. The plinker plus were made on forged receivers which is more mil spec. Allot of people will tell you online stay away from them but there good guns. As far as steel cased ammo goes I would stay away from it but you can run it. I ran wolf through one of mine for a long time the only problem I had was its allot dirtier ammo. If you have a quality extractor and spring on your bolt then you will have no issues if you clean it.
I couldnt tell you what there worth know but I used to buy them for $600.00 like Lee said. Just keep it lubed and use mil spec mags and that thing will run.

Thanks a bunch for the input Spainy and TWB! And Troy for posting the pic. Sam and I will try to get down your way this week and we'll blow through some of those 380 rounds.

Sweet! Now all you need is a 450 or 458 upper and it could be your new deer gun. Problem is the upper will cost more than what you paid for the gun itself. Then throw the 223 back on and yote hunt with it. Congrats on the purchase!
