I'll be in the area next weekend if you want to go to Hillenbrand or the Forest. Sounds good. Maybe bring the guns 'n rods both.

Looks like I'll be using the 410 in the morning. Found 4 or 5 boxes of Hiawatha ammo in the bottom of the gun cabinet and went out to make sure the ol' rifle was still sighted in. First shot it jammed and smoked more than it should...looked down at the casing laying on the picnic table and it was split. I think I got these shells from my Grandpa years ago.

What all is wrong with your gun, Troy? Nothing's wrong with the gun......it's ammo that's older than me that's the problem. Haven't been able to pick any 22 ammo in a while.

I've got a few chores to do after work and one of those chores is shooting some bushy tails!

This mornings tally....Skeeters 5 - Me 0 The bugs were worse than I anticipated in this cool weather. I had sprayed everywhere but my face, now I've got a big welt right between my eyes. Did see a couple but didn't get a shot. A little breakfast and bug spray, and I'm going back for more!

Good luck Matt! My luck wasn't so good. Borrowed dad's ruger 10-22 and some shells, shot it some to make sure it was hitting it's mark, walked back to the woods and immediately come across a big fox squirrel sitting on a vine with a big nut in it's mouth. It was only about 10 yards and eye level, put the scope on it's head, but there was a twig in the way, moved back to the vitals and squeezed the trigger and it dropped. It was flopping in the weeds and I had a sticker bush to walk around to get to it and when I did, it was gone! I looked around and found a hole that it must have crawled into. Couldn't believe it. Hunted some more and there was a couple cuttin' in the top of a shag bark hickory, but it was too thick to get a shot. Went back and looked for my downed squirrel again before coming home, but no dice. Oh, and those deep fried jalapenos were putting the damper on my hunting fun today!

Good story and sorry to hear about the wear and tear the Jalepeno's were doing to ya! Hickory trees are usually where I find them this time of year but it seems like they are always so high you can't hardly find them. Better days are coming ahead, I'm sure.

I've only gone after squirrels a couple of times. What do you guys do? Do you get to the woods around daylight? The one time I actually killed a squirrel was sitting in the treestand after deer season. I figured I'd see at least one since you see so many while you're deer hunting.
