Those dates are set by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and usually come out in early to mid August. I'm sure it will be September 1st though.

Got a 5 day weekend scheduled around labor day. I'm ready to get out there. Got shells, license and stamp and 2 12 gauges waiting patiently in the safe.

im probably going to try a little dove hunting this year if i can find some to shoot. One of my food plots was a 1/8th acre plot that was half sunflowers and half millet+sunflower mix. sunflowers didnt do very good because i didnt put any fertilizer out on this plot but the millet has big seed heads on it some over my head and some that are right at ground level and most are about nipple high.. I will definitely try to plant more millet next year . And i was gonna try to dove hunt over this but it is just staeting to get ripe i hope the doves will find it. oh and the other half of the food plot I tilled up and planted in wheat, turnips, and rape brassica. And theres another 1/8th acre field next to it that I sprayed with herbicide becasue i was going to plant a food plot there but changed my mind. Now it is just dead grass that i think the doves would like to land in and walk around in since they dont like to have alot of thick grass to land in.easy for the quail chicks to travel thru too. I broadcasted some turnips into that area to see what will happen haha so i geuss it is a "no till" food plot

Haven't heard from my buddy about the silage field, so I scouted Hillenbrand FWA today and didn't see a dove. Nothing's been planted for them this year out there.
