Summit Lake 6-1-13...Perch and gills

I went camping/fishing at Summit Lake SP this past weekend. This was my first time there. I was really impressed and can't wait to get back soon! The fishing wasn't the greatest but still had a great time. I was hoping to catch some gills/redears on the nest however the only beds I could find were bass beds. I do not have a thermometer on my depth finder but I can tell you the water was still pretty chilly. We caught about 2 dozen gills, many of which were undersized, and every female was still full of eggs. We did manage to catch a couple decent gills though. However, the highlight of the trip was the 3 perch we caught and also the giant I lost. I set a personal best with a 12.5" perch and I lost one a little later that was significantly bigger. Good trip but would've liked to have gotten on the fish a little better.
