...is just around the corner! Pretty soon any extra sleeping time or any other free time will be spent chasing these seemingly stupid, but oh-so elusive birds! Youth season is saturday and I'm jacked! Seems like I'm about the only youth hunter on the board anymore but goodluck to all!

ill be out on saturday but havent been hearing but a few gobbles.. althought they are strutting and following the hens around. had 3 jakes, a tom and a hen walk through my front yard this morning while waiting for the bus lol My plan is to basically setup exactly where i have been seeing them come out of the woods and set 2 decoys out and basically try to hunt them like you woulkd hunt a deer.. they dont seem to be interested in any calling but that may change pretty fast!

I don't think there is exactly a youth season in Colorado, but i am kind of new to Turkey hunting. I'm pretty sure youths can hunt the whole two months here. Haven't been out yet with 2 feet of snow on the ground. I can't wait for it to melt!

Well first spot this mornign was a bust. Second spot I got on them, and the birds were coming but I just don't know what happened... I finally had to give up. While walking through the middle of a wide open field. I see a turkey pop out and it does'nt see me Its less than 75 yards out.. So I prop the decoys up against the fence and crawl through the ditch. Knowing I have no cover, I set up so as soon as he crests the hill... *boom* I saw the bird come over the hill to my callls, but the bird turned out to be a hen with alot of head coloring... Still alot more season!

Sounds like a typical turkey season to me, B-rad. You're right though; still plenty of season left, stay after 'em!
