Barely found enough for a taste today...

Most were dry...

...but a couple were real fresh.

Poor Max....it's getting hard for him to keep up anymore. He'll be 15 this fall and I'm afraid this might be his last spring in the mushroom woods.

I have 2 different patches for the early black ones....the one patch has produced every year for 30+ years; my Grandpa showed me the spot when I was kid....I have not found a mushroom there yet. :-/

I'm starting to get another bad feeling about this year!

I think it is going to be a late start this year. It seems that the little cold snap shut them down. My grandma and I found around fifty small greys between Friday and Saturday. I think they should be up better tomorrow. If we get the rain this week it should help.

A couple of years ago we found around fifty blacks on one hill at one of our spots. She had never found them there before and we haven't found them since.

daybreak: Always loved Labor Day weekend. Time for those jet skis and speed boats to go back in storage and make room on the lakes for us fishermen again. (:))
