Well awhile back i asked you guys about what hangon stands you use and sounded like alot of you guys used the cheap hang on styand so i picked one up at MC Sports today and im gonna see how it does this season. It is the "Beagel II" by Big Dog treestands. the price on the sticker said $59.99 and was on sale for 39.99 (although the cashier tried to pull a fast one and charge me $50 LOL). So far what i liek about the stand is that it is compact and lightweight and simple. What i dont like is it is almost too compact (small seat and platform) and does not feel very strong to me,feels like it is flimsy when i step onto it and it likes to move around some when i step on it.. But for $40 i think it is a fair price for what i am getting. BUT i think i will stay below 20 feet with this stand

The strap uses a different style strap like you use to fasten your safety harness to the tree. It also uses a ciinch strap on the bottom half.. I think i will replace the top strap with a real ratchet strap to get it more tight to the tree..Maybe even add another rathcet strap in the middle/bottom.

I'm currently building one out of scrap. The only thing I'll have to buy is steps, a few U-bolts, and some cushion for the seat. Everything else is scrap metal/wood. I think it's gonna turn out pretty good, might be a little on the heavy side though.

Sounds like a good idea.. if i was in welding i would do the same! Just be careful with it. Today i was working on cutting some dead limbs/cutting shooting "holes" in this cedar tree that is right by the spot where im gonna plant a food plot this year (mostly corn with soybeans right in front of me and a small field of winter wheat to my left) There are alot of limbs on the tree and i dont need any steps to get into the stand. I was thinking about buying some lumber and tryin to make me a little platform where i can sit on a bucket and shoot out of the tree! lol if not i will use this compact hang on stand since there is not much room to mount the stand( i tried to keep as much limbs as possible for cover) I am not even sure if i will be able to stand up in the stand or not lol. Should be a KILLER stand location if my plots do good. The field is mostly thick with saplings and i have about 5 mowed paths that funnel into the field i have cleared out for the plot. Its basically a ground blind in a tree LOL the cedar smell should cover my scvent a little too!
