Here's something my buddy Casper made for Christmas. He brought me some leftovers in to work and it was dang good! 1 rabbit 1 pound sausage 1 box Louisiana "Dirty Rice" Put the rabbit in the crock pot with a little water and seasonings and cook until the meat falls off the bone. Brown 1 pound of sausage. Cook rice as directed on the box. Mix the pulled rabbit meat, sausage, and rice all together and add a little bit of curry and serve. When he served it on Christmas he also made a brown mushroom gravy to pour over it. He bought the "Louisiana Dirty Rice" at the Dollar Tree.

Now if only i could kill a rabbit.. Might be able to track one down in this snow. I was thinking about trying it tomorrow. I'm hoping to get with Casper and do a rabbit hunting video before season goes out. He's taking his son out to try and get his first rabbit tomorrow.

I made this today and it was a big hit with the entire family! The rabbit I cooked in the crockpot for about 5 hours with some sliced onion and a beer instead of water. I then drained the liquid and shredded and diced the rabbit and onion and put it back in the crockpot. I then made the rice and browned the sausage and put those in the crockpot, seasoned with curry, and put it on warm so it would be ready when everyone got home. I also made a brown mushroom gravy to serve on top. Chase and Kim liked it with gravy, Colt and me like it without....so I'm glad I kept it on the side. I used Tony Chachere's "Dirty Rice" that I picked up at the Dollar Store for a buck. I'm gonna get some more and make it with deer burger next week. Good stuff!
