Very good read Justin! I myself have witnessed some chasing already in this young season. I have also witnessed a buck with a group of 8 mature does and no fawns with them We have also been seeing many does w/o fawns. I was really perplexed as to why this is happening but I think I've come up with the answer. The Drought and coyotes! I believe the drought significantly weakened some fawns and made them vulnerable to coyotes. I shot a doe sunday evening and after I watched her go down I proceeded to witness a single coyote trying to attack a fawn. Luckily, he didn't succeed but this tells me this wasn't his first rodeo! Especially after watching his sly techniques to try and capture it. It was crazy to witness. I videoed it but it was so far away that you couldn't even tell what i was filming.
