This is on a buddies game cam and it is about 8 miles north of my stand. Now I've heard rumors of big cats but just brush them off. Think this could be a dog, well hope so. But my buddy is convinced he caught a cat on cam.

I'd say it's either a cat with a short tail or a pit bull. Hate to say it but it sure looks like a cat to me.

I thought it looks likes a pit that hasn't been croped. Don't cats have rounded tails on the end?

Thanks Troy. After those tail comparison pictures, I just retired from the hunting game.

In my opinion the tail on whatever is in the picture is way too short to be a big cat.
I'm going with some type of dog. I see what looks a lot like a dog's ear on the left side of the head.

First off let me say that i do believe there are lions here in Indiana (atleast in my neck of the woods). But that "thing" looks too small to be a full grown lion. Maybe a young one tho.. and you know what that means... But i am gonna say it it more likely some kind of dog. I would tell your buddy to shoot a doe and then tie down the rest of the carcass and put a cam over it! I WANT to see one! Well, looks like we might be huntin for hogs and cougars in the near future, lol

Is it Troys buddy Max,lol . Cool pic for sure, I have heard you guys are seeing more and more big cats down there. Scary for sure. I think I would rather see Big Foot whilst hunting then a big cat, yikes.

I enhanced the photo too ! I really don't know, but the tail looks awfully short for a lion. Have your buddy send it in to DNR and see what they think.

It looks like a chocolate lab to me personally. Although i know there are plenty of cougars in my neck of the woods. The resource building in crane even has pictures of some on crane
