Apparently it is difficult to find big minnows this time of year, but Wag's came through for me. Dirty Harry's didn't have bass minnows, nor did Spurlin's. I am really starting to think Wag's is the best place for bait in the area. He keeps great hours and the quality of his bait is usually pretty good. I will say that his bass minnows were a little on the small side, but when he is the only guy who has them you can't complain too much. But I digress, on to the fish... I set out yesterday in hopes of catching a big bass at my f-i-l's buddy's place. I set out a couple of poles with a minnow and bobber, but never had any takers. I was catching quite a few bluegills and finally caught one that seemed small enough to use for bait. It wasn't out long until I hooked up with this bass... I figured that was a good stopping point and the heat of the day was starting to get to me. After a much needed round of rain I talked my f-i-l to going back out to see if the rain had the fish stirred up. He started off hooking into a nice one only to have it spit the hook. He thought he had hooked into another nice one, but apparently this guy had more fight then size... He finally hooked up with a nice one a few casts after that... While we were trying to take a picture of that one, I saw one of my bobbers go under and turns out my old friend wanted to play... I was using nightcrawlers trying to catch a few bluegills and my bobber went under pretty hard. Once I started reeling I knew it wasn't a bluegill. I caught this one on my ultra light bluegill rig with four pound test. It was a fun, fun fight...

Looks like a great day of fishing. I was out for a few hours this morning but there was nothing doing.
