Went out to the pond today to do a little fishin before work. Started off with a 9 in paddle tail lizzard, on a medium action rod/reel, no luck. Switched over to a sinking minnow, and caught a few dinks, but nothing sizeable. Broke out the ugly stick ultra light for a few to play with the gills. (still cant believe how big they're gettin) Caught bout a half dozen or so on an artificial cricket lip bait. Just before i was about to go in for the day, I threw a black with blue tail berkley powertail on my medium rod, and casted it up under a little willow where i had been seein some movement. Sure enough there was a nice one there. She gave me about a five minute fight, and it was worth it. Ended up bein 21 inches. I didnt weigh it, cause i dont know where my scales are, and it was hot out and i didnt want to keep her out of the water for too long. probably around the 5 1/2 - 6 lb range. Not huge, BUT FUN!!!
