The birds were gobblin good this morning, i just couldn"t quite get ont them goo enough. Saw 8 deer, 1 hen and 1 jake. The jake I would"ve shot but because I saw him while still hunting back out of the woods, but he got over a hill before I could sling any lead at him I should be right back on them in the morning, and I know right whre they were yesterday so wish me luck

They're gobbling good on the roost and just after here but about an hour off the roost not a bird in the woods is gobbling. They are all henned up at the moment and all of them are off the property at the moment. Looks like my youth season could be a bust

Chase and me got to our spot before light this morning. When there started to be some light in the sky I flipped on the camera and.....no tape. I guess when I put the camera up for sale I took the tape out. Chase ran all the way back to the house and grabbed us a tape. (Sorry again, Chase.) By the time Chase got back we were hearing gobbles a ways off. One of the birds sounded like it was getting closer, so we just waited, no calling or anything. It took probably an hour, but eventually the tom was right behind us, still gobbling. At this time 4 jakes come out in the field in front of us and 2 deer were coming from the left. The tom finally walks out into the field, Chase raises the gun to shoot, and......he see's us and runs off. The jakes just fed off away from us and the deer ran off. The jakes ended up across the road and we think one of them bit the bullet. We heard 1 shot from the direction they went along with some "whoo hoos!" I'll put a video together this week of the hunt.

I've had plenty of luck so far...and all of it BAD LUCK!!! Yes....I did end up buying a tag. Just couldn't stand the thought of being off opening day and not hunting. I've seen and heard plenty of birds, just nothing in range yet. Poor Chase on the other hand..... , he had a tom at 5 yards yesterday after school and couldn't get off a shot, then 2 hours later he had one at twenty yards and couldn't get a shot! He's got a lot of good turkey footage so far.....maybe he can donate it to Animal Planet.

I got out last Saturday. Got into the woods at 5 in the morning. Set up on the edge of a field where I know turkeys come out a lot. Heard one or two really distant gobbles as the sun came up, but nothing to get excited about. It was extremely foggy, so I'm not sure if that kept them from gobbling as much.
Then around 8:15, my hunting buddy sent out a few yelps on his slate call. We were hunting in a blind together. Right after he called, a hen started calling right back from about 15 yards right behind our blind. Then a gobbler fired up right next to her. After some more soft calling, the hen came out about 10 feet from the blind and headed to our decoys out in the field.
We both thought the gobbler would follow her out, but he didn't for some reason. The hen fed for a couple minutes and then worked her way back into the woods. It was still pretty exciting.
I'm heading out for an afternoon hunt tomorrow. A flock of turkeys feeds along the same treeline every day between 5 and 6. I'm planning on heading out around 2 and try to get a gobbler fired up. Then if that fails, I'm just gonna wait on them to feed towards me.

I went out on the 27th and had a few in the bak part of the property gobbling but were henned up and never came in, so i started to go up to my dads blind when he called and said stop i got a bird gobbling in a field 75 yards away in a field up a little further. So i waitred, waited, and waited. I could heer the bird gobbling to my dads calls, but he was going away from him, so i called my dad and said i have the strutting jake decoy that i made and i said let me try and crawl behind the decoy into the field to the bird since tommorow is my bday. he let me go so i got to the edge of the field on the other side he was on and the bird was in a 2 achre woods on the neighbors so i snuck out into the field holding the decoy infront of me, my gun and the camera. the bird came out strutting and gobbling from 200 yards all the way to 14 where i dropped him with my 12 gauge. I got a little video but no kill shot because i left my tripod by the creek with all of my other things. Also had 3 coming in a few days later with my brother but a coyot ran them off

More bad luck again this morning. Everytime I zig they zag. I've heard people say that they think the turkeys are done for the year. WRONG! Heard more gobbles and seen more struttin than I've seen all year. Saw 4 toms and 2 jakes, but none close enough for a shot.

That's a good reason to not be able to go again. haha. My afternoon hunt the other day was a bust. Heard a couple gobbles a couple hundred yards away, but nothing was moving where I was set up.
I have until May 20th to try and fill my tag. Hopefully I will be able to get out for one more early morning hunt sometime by then.
