I'm not sure how or why, but my grandma and I hit the mother load on Saturday. We found 250 morels and the weird thing was we didn't see a single spike.

Way to go! I'm glad someone is finding them. Love those action shots! I could look at pics of big yella shrooms all day.

Way to go! I'm glad someone is finding them. Love those action shots! I could look at pics of big yella shrooms all day. It was a good, but weird morning. Where we were finding them didn't have a rhyme or reason. East banks, west banks, moss, shale, growing along side a "road" through the woods, it was very, very weird. We hit one hillside that we found probably fifty yellows on it.

As someone who hates mushrooms, what is it about these morels that everyone loves? Just curious because it seems like people are absolutely fanatic about these things?

They are really tasty, but I enjoy finding them more than I do eating them.

It's like an easter egg hunt for grown ups! Lots of fun and good exercise. Plus if you're lucky you cn get a nice meal at the end. I know several people who don't like to eat them but love to find them.

I can understand the thrill of finding them. This site was actually the first place I ever heard of morel mushrooms.
