I've been wanting this here in Indiana for years and it looks like we're finally close! Public comments are being accepted here; www.in.gov/nrc/2377.htmWhat this essentially does is allow hunters to "self check" their deer or turkey via phone or internet. I know a lot of people argue that this would encourage people not check their kills in at all, but I believe it would actually have the opposite effect. I can personally attest to the fact that taking deer and turkey to a check station is a PAIN IN THE ! Especially when you take an animal on a Sunday evening and there's nothing open and you have to work the next day!

They just started this same type of program in Ohio last year. Its so nice to just pull out your phone and call in your kill right away. Saves a lot of time and energy.

That is sweet Troy. I got into a tight jam a few years ago when I took a doe the Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving Thursday. No check station was open till Friday, had to hang her, take her down, go check her in, ya a major pain in the , Guys who want to cheat the system will do so no matter what the case, so yeah I am in support of this. Unfortunately the state makes "No Reward" or little if any thing given to these bussinesses who are check stations. I could be wrong but I have not heard of any incentive to them. Hate to change the subject but it is to my knowledge the same way for bussinesses who sell fishing liscence, Again Maybe I am wrong. I just have not heard of anything.

This will be nice, but I like taking a trip to the check-in spot. It sounds like that won't be an option if this goes well.

It is kind of fun shooting the bull, showing off, and seeing what everyone else is bringing in. This did cost me about 600 bucks onetime though; Chase's first turkey we checked in at the 4-Way Bridge Bait and the guys there went so gaga over his bird that we ended up getting it mounted!

Checking a deer or turkey had always been "part of the process" for me. It has been a pain in the hiney sometimes. So, I guess I'm alright with it. Still have the option of a check station till they get this thing going. Not sure I want to have to pay the $3.00 per check in that they had said it was going to cost. I haven't heard though if they still plan on charging for the electronic service or not.

In the Ohio program all the physical check stations are still available to hunters to check-in at. I just like having the luxury of using my phone to call in a kill. Especially with the way gas prices are.

Yeah I have been checking them in for so long, it would be a big change, but I dont think I would have a problem with being able to do it on the phone/internet..
