I prefer Hunter Specialties myself. Probably for no other reason than they're what I started with. They're fairly cheap and work. If I was going to recommend one to someone just starting out it would be the HS Strut 101 Combo Pack.

You can do everything with it if you practice enough. I have used the Primos mini dome and don't like it. The kit Dad posted is perfect. Good luck!
