I really need to get one too. MY wooden one won't last to long in a fire.

I have a 24 gun safe made by Winchester. It has spaces for 24 long guns as well as two shelves that I use for handguns. It has a push button combination lock and is good and dry. I've had it for a couple of years and have had no moisture problems. I like it not only for fire and theft protection but also because I have two young boys and having guns in the house makes me and my wife a little nervous. Not sure on the cost, it was a Christmas gift from my wife, in-laws and my mother. It's a heavy sun-of-gun when I brought it into the house I have a buddy with and engineering degree and it took his smarts to figure out how to move it . (we set it on a piece of 3/4 inch plywood and rolled it on golf balls across the basement floor. )

I've been looking at upgrading to a bigger, better safe. Especially right now with a lot of retailers having after Christmas specials going. I've went beyond the capacity of my current safe and really can't buy anymore guns until I upgrade. I've mainly been checking Gander, Rural King and Orscheln's. Been seeing some of the 24 gun/fire rated safes going for around $500 or less.

I have a 24 gun safe made by Winchester. I think that's the same one Dad recently got from Tractor Supply Co. www.tractorsupply.com/winchester-reg-gun-safe-24-gun-capacity-1043297He borrowed an appliance dolly from Rash Hardware and Monty and me helped put it in the house. It wasn't too bad. It was about a week before they could get into it though. The door wouldn't open. Long story...but Winchester did pay for a locksmith to come out and fix it and as far as I know he's happy with it now.

I just saw a new ad in (I think) American Rifleman for safes that you build piece by piece where ever you want it set up. They are designed for people that want their gun safe in their upstairs closet instead of on the ground floor.

Mine is green with the word Western on the front and does not have that caddy on the inside of the door, though I wish it did. Mine came from Sams Club, I found out.
