Me and my boy did a little catfishing last night for a couple of hours. Had 3 real nice runs and landed one fish. The first run must've been a brute of a cat! It was pretty weird too. We had just pulled up to a spot and anchored and I threw my line out. Immediately upon hitting the water my bobber just kept going under. At first I thought maybe I had too heavy a piece of cut bait on but it turned out to be a bruiser of a fish that gave me about an 8-10 minute fight before it finally wore my line out I haven't heard my drag scream like that in a few years! I'm guessing it was about a 15# channel as I got to see a glimpse of it just before it broke off. After fishing for about 15-20 minutes more in that spot with no takers we moved about 150 yds and anchored again. I casted out and within about 3 minutes I kicked my flashlight on to check bobbers and my bobber was gone. I kept slowly reeling in my slack to try to get to a point where I could begin to feel the fish so I could slam the hook home. By the time I caught up with him he was 30 yds away heading for the deep! I slammed the hook into his jaw and fought him for about 5 minutes. Here he is! I'm thinking he is about 6-7 lbs.
