Chase and me went over to Minnehaha yesterday evening to see if we could troll up a rainbow trout out of the Island Pit. We were using various spoons, spinners, and deep diving crankbaits. They ended up being a little deeper than I thought they would be already. We marked a couple schools of what looked like big fish at 20 feet. We ended up stopping and jigging down to them but no luck. We did catch 1 largemouth and had another get off while trolling. When it got dark we could really hear the bass hitting topwater so Chase got out the ol' jitterbug. I told him that if he got any keepers to throw them in the cooler and we'd fry up some bass tomorrow. I don't know how many he ended up catching, but I swear every one was 13 7/8"! You couldn't ask for a better night weather wise. The gnats were bad but we had plenty of vanilla.

Are there any feet in those crocs? Don't you wish they would lower the bass keeper limit for those of us that would like to keep a few? It always seems like there is an abundance of bass in the 11" to 13 7/8" range. I've never fished Island but it has been on my radar for quite some time now. How'd you like it?

There's stinky feet in those crocs! I agree about the bass. Shakamak has a slot limit where you can't keep anything 12-15 inches and I swear all you catch is 13 inchers. I like the Island Pit. We pulled up and I wanted to check out the ramp before I backed down and was shocked to find a concrete ramp! Plenty of parking, spots to bank fish, security light, pit toilet, what's not to like? Just a little ways out from the ramp it's 70 feet deep. We'll be back.

Looks like a nice night for some fishing. Those facilities don't sound too bad either! I agree about the size for keeping bass. The fish are never gonna grow when there are hundreds of the same size and nobody is taking any out.

One of them reaches 110' - I think it's Loon Lake?
