I wasnt sure where to post this. Here or random video. But i will post here.

A little background

When i was a young man i road tripped all over the midwest following the concert scene. I ended up meeting a girl in N.IN during one of these roadies....as it turned out, i then started road triping more and more from my home in N. MI to Fort Wayne to take said girl to shows. Well, things happen....saw Ozzy w/ Zach Wilde on guitar for Zachs first tour with Ozzy....My now wife was 3 months pregnant w/ eldest son. (Poor bastid was doomed from the start)

Flash forward a few years and we find my eldest son and HIS friends road tripping all over the midwest to concerts. Like his old man, my son LOVES live music...toss ICE COLD beer into the mix and its close to heaven for us. (I rank it up there w/ a good day on the trout stream or day in the deer stand.)

Well, 3 months ago i hear that there is going to be a show @ Pieres on 5-12 (sons 21st b-day) Now, my son has whined and complained about me going to all these great shows thoughout the years @ Pieres and he cant go because hes underage. So, without hesitation i head up and buy 2 tix for the May 12 show and learn its going the be Alter Bridge w/ Black Stone Cherry.

Now i have seen AB @ Pieres before and knew they rocked. I hadnt seen BSC before but had read nothing but great reviews. The son is not exactly into these bands like me but he agreed to go anywho.

Heres some songs i recorded 5-12.

The eldest could NOT believe the stage prescence and energy these guys brough to the table! He was SOOO Stoked after the show...then as he went to the Bath room to let out a few big ass beers he ran into Ben Wells. (Wild, Blonde lead guitarist) Ben then bought my son a beer for his 21st!!

One more BSC...one of the big radio hits. Sorry for my butchering it at the beginning....but i love this tune!

Alter Bridge - Black Bird
My camera did me proud, it was flashing 3 minutes battery life when i started filming an 8 minute song...i WANTED the guitar "duet" and was able to get it!

One more AB. "Find The Real"
(something i do when i get out hunting and fishing..."find the real" in this life!)

Eldest son says it was "THE GREATEST 21ST EVER" and he has "THE BEST DAD IN THE WORLD"....that mighta been the $100 in beer talking too

but its all good. we had an AWESOME time, he got totally trashed and got home safe.

OH and AB and especially BSC made a new fan for life!

That's some great footage you got and I'm sure your son will never forget that night! Way to go dad!

Oh, and the problem with the video is that stupid new "youtu.be" link that youtube is using. If you use the dot com link they still work.

for those of you that are digging on the footage, i have many many more groups/shows up on my youtube page. There are also more tunes from this particular show as well....I have a bunch of up and coming bands (at the time, some are pretty big now) and some big name, established bands. (Tesla (accoustic show and "plug-in show), Disturbed, Art of Dieing, Five finger death punch, Saliva, Alter bridge on their first tour together) all varying degrees of quality. My old camera was not HD as is this new one (still trying to figure out how to convert and upload in full HD) it also dependent upon amount of smoke in club, sound man, crowd, seating position, etc, etc. One day i should go thru all my film, convert and upload.

Theres also some country stuff up there from Darryl Worely, trent tomlinson, bomshel....not great quality as it was the first show i ever shot with the new camera.

Yeah he do! So did Bomshell, Darryl Worley, and Jason Aldean. Most of what i shot didnt make the cut due to what i perceived as low quality. The Aldean show was so loud it was incomprehensible for the most part so nothing from that set made it up. Even tho the group JAMMED.

Best part was when Darryl brought local troops and first responders out on stage for "Have you Forgotten" The crowd response was SO loud it shut my camera down...THRICE!

That was country fest. Not alot of fun as it was over 100 degrees that day, stuck in the crush of bodies, bunch of young punks w/ beer made it "interesting". The worst part was i didnt have a solid base to shoot from, so the footage is all "bouncy"...i hate that. It was the first show i attempted to film with the new camera. I love the Mic attenuator for live shows, but i am still figuring it out and the correct parameters. It really showed at this show i was totally not used to it.

Next up....10 years......hopefully i will go and film that show. Saw 'em open for Shinedown years back and they blew Shinedown right out of the building. I guess i am getting old...i get more of a kick out of checking out the up and coming "no name" bands then i do headliners. Like 10 years or many others i could name.

speaking of young up and comers upstaging the big boys....some of my earliest work....

this clip is actually 2 songs by Submersed (unfortunately they have since disbanded) in the second tune in this clip (about 3:50) these guys just let rip with an instrumental....i missed a few minutes of the beginning but was moved to roll on it. I missed the start due to trying to conserve battery and tape for Buck Cherry and Alter Bridge. Buck Cherry stunk the place out, they couldnt cover themselves. TERIBLE!!! I am STILL angry about wasting tape on them and missing Submersed set. Alter Bridge had a hard time keeping from being upstaged by Submersed. They did it by playing for 2+ hours. Covering thier entire debut album and a covers set called "Stump Myles" where they took suggestions from the audience and Myles and the band commenced to jam the tune.

It was the last AB show that finally convinced me to get an extended run battery for my old camera, guess what i am shopping for, for this new machine.... ::)

The terrible quality of the clip is due to a VERY slow internet connection back then. The source file has none of the "noise" in the video and the audio is much better. i am sorely tempted re-upload the older stuff with this faster comp. and connection.

For those that live in a cave...Alter Bridge is Creed without Scott Stap and Myles Kennedy singing/playing guitar. Just thought i would toss that out there.

Anywho, check this "no name" group throwing down the gaunlet...
