My 4 days off to hunt is over and no birds were harmed. Looks like I'll be eating my first spring turkey tag unless I can pull a Hail Mary on Sunday. I was within 20 yards of 2 different toms yesterday and couldn't get a shot. The first was at my public land "honey hole." It was exactly like last year where I had one gobbling his head off to everything but wouldn't come so I tried a sneak again. This time when I peeked over the top of the hill he was gone though. Sat along a trail in the afternoon and looked over and seen a big tom walking down the trail. Flipped on the camera, waited for the shot, and he took a right turn away from me. Never seen him again. Didn't hear or see a thing today. I think I'm retiring from this turkey thing. There's just too many other things to do in the spring!
