We went to our woods for a mid day hunt and struck up some lonely gobblers. We walked in the woods, set up a couple hens, put out the "stuffer" jake that Dad made and had a couple gobbling 10 minutes after getting set up. I started calling to them with the slate call member rowdy1 and his buddy made for us and they would gobble back every time. While these 2 were coming in we had a different pair of toms come in the woods. They didn't seem interested and didn't get close. While those 2 were leaving, the ones that were gobbling came over the hill. They didn't seem to like "stuffy" and went behind us. I was able to turn around and make a tough shot. Dad had the 20 gauge and we were hoping to double up if they would've came in front of us. Oh well, we just roosted one behind the pond so hopefully he can bag his in the morning. My "sick" day from school definiately payed off! The video is being uploaded right now so it will hopefully be up by tonight. Thanks again to rowdy1! I was using a hunter specialties rosewood striker with it and as you will be able to see in the video, it sounds great! 19.5 lbs 10.5" beard 7/8" spurs

Chase and me went behind the pond this morning and there ended up being 3 roosted back there. We got set up and thought it was a slam dunk but it didn't happen. It was so windy that we didn't hear them fly down and then the next time they gobbled they were in the EXACT spot that Chase killed his yesterday. I thought about going there too but decided to set up closer to the birds. We just tried a midday hunt with no luck. The wind is really howling and I can never seem to find them when it's like this.

What have you guys been doing to get them to gobble? We didn't have to do anything. They were gobbling to every thing this morning! It was a different story once they hit the ground, but on the roost they were sounding off to any kind of noise.

Every1 i talk to down here has 4 or 5 different reasons that they arent gobbling. Any clues troy?

Nice bird, I went with my dad yesterday just to call with him. Although the two toms we were after wouldnt come in, we did have an old hen about 8 yards from us.

Nice Bird! Glad the call is workin out for ya! Our birds are still hened up, watched one breed a hen this morn. and then went strait to 5 more hens. Can't get 'em to do anything and our bottoms being flooded doesn't help. They'll fire up some time. I hope!?!?
