Today I was joined by BBB "star" Chase Bell and cameraman Monty for some late season goose hunting. We could only get out for the afternoon but that didnt stop us from getting some great action. After about an hour of waiting Chase and I heard some birds from the east that sounded like they were coming off the water. A few calls later and we had about 150 geese right on top of us. If it were not for two stupid hawks and a lack of decoys in our set, I think we could have called them in. They came over and gave our 2 decoys a good look and then left. Over the next 2 hours we saw over 1000 geese. When it comes to hunting its always the hunt, not the kill, that makes a great hunt..This would qualify for a great hunt with no kill. Chase and Monty got some great video that will be posted soon.
Stay Tuned.....

Some pretty cool footage you fellars got. Man, I wish Chase would have brought the tripod, those geese flying by the setting sun would have been some beautiful footage if it wasn't so shaky. I was in the deer stand yesterday, around 4:50 about a 100 geese flew over our pond. I tried to get Chase up this morning to try to set-up for them, but he decided to sleep in. Well, they came back by about 8:35 this morning and flew RIGHT over the pond about tree top high. I thought they were going to land but they headed on south-east.

That sunset was spectacular!! I just think we needed a few more decoys or maybe more time to figure out the pattern they were in. This time of year you need to find where they feed and set up for night. Next year we will be a little more prepared.

Some pretty cool footage you fellars got. Hope there's enough useable footage there to put together a little video. Flyin' honkers are hard to follow on that tiny screen! Had a blast doin' it, though. Think I could get into that. Thanks again, Randy! Monty
