me and the guys at work were talking about how we haven't been seeing many deer moving and assumed it was because of the ice. one of the guys said we could lose a lot of the deer since everything is froze over and the food being difficult to get to for them. any opinions

I don't believe we will lose any deer that we weren't already going to lose. It will be hard on the deer if the ice is here for an extended amount of time, but I don't believe it will be the end of em. Deer can eat a variety of things and in the winter eat a lot of twigs and bark. The deer also knew this storm was coming and would have stockpiled up on the food. Now they are laying in whatever tight cover they can find and are chewing there cud. When they run out of cud then they will start foraging. I believe then they will use there hooves to break the ice and get to the floor. If they have trouble there then they will hit the trees. I do not envy them but do believe they will be just fine.

Dang, I've seen more deer this week than I've seen in a LLOOONNNGGG time. Almost tagged a HERD this evening. My buddy and me were looking at some walking out into a field and both turned in time to see the rest of the herd right in front of his car! We both screemed like a couple girls! The front one was a nice 8 point that luckily turned back and the rest followed.

Sounds like a pucker moment Troy. I figured they would be herded up pretty good. That is a key survival instinct they have. Brent and I were talking today that we wonder how many have lost there antlers from falling on the ice. We then concluded those antlers should be easy to find because they will just slide to the lowest point on the property

Troy, I seen your video about the ice storm, is everything iced over there? Between Brazil and Rockville it seems like solid ice on everything. I thought about walking on the dam at work but decided not to after I walked around a bit, figured I would make it to the bottom faster than I wanted too.

Our corn fields are like big iced over lakes, its tricky to get across them but i still have seen plenty of animal tracks across them
