whats a good bait to fish in muddy water on a lake?

What will you be fishing for? If bass go with some thing bright as they can see it better and maybe add a rattle to it for sound

Bass don't like muddy water, so I would look for the clearest water I could find with some structure and throw something flashy and noisy. Spinner baits, rattlin crankbaits, even big bulky worms or jigs with rattles would be good choices. That's just my opinion though, never been much of a basser myself.

try some artificials that have scent or salt covering them. I have had success that way in the past. also something with legs like a plastic lizard or wacky plastic will help because they put out more vibration.
