It might get a little noisy around here come September. Dad's planted a dove field with millet and sunflowers. We've had quite a few around here the past few years and hopefully this will really bring them in. I took this pic from the pond dam looking towards our house; Chase is looking forward to bruising some shoulders with 'Pa this fall.

Get you one of those mojo doves if you dont have one. You would be amazed at how well they really do work. Just make sure you dont shoot your decoys when they land in it. I wont hunt without one now. Cant stand to watch the birds fly just out of range when i dont have one to use. i use a mojo 5 or 6 stills and a wheel with 4 that go in a circle and I slay the dove.

I have them land in my yard all the time, and im hoping to get some with my sheridan bluestreak .20 air rifle when season comes around. And i also might try regular actually dove hunting in our food plot which also has millet sunflowers and corn.

make sure that you check your laws and regulations about doing those things. Considering that they are a migratory bird that may be considered baiting in your state. So I would ask before the season starts. May be ok until it is "harvested". I think then you have to wait for a minimum of 10 days before hunting that area.

Ya baiting is illegal but if you hunt a corn field or whatever its not considered baiting unless you actually planted it to attract the bird. But baiting deer is also illegal and people hunt food plots all the time (including me) and it's not considered baiting.

The Indiana DNR plants fields just like this on some of it's properties, so I think we're good. I think I'll get one of those mojo decoys. We have some of the clip-on dekes, but that mojo should really draw some attention.

The dove field brought in a few birds this season, but now that winter is here it is REALLY bringing them in! We have 2 white pine trees in the front yard and there's probably a hundred dove roosting in them trees and hitting whats left of the plot during the day. If I remember, I'll try to shoot some video of all the birds busting out of those 2 little trees tomorrow evening.

15 days! It can't get here soon enough! Actually for me it will be 18 days unless I burn a vac day and take Friday off. Not sure yet. Either way, can't wait! Oh crap...I need shells. That Saiga 12 eats them like no other. As tempting as it will be I won't be using it for dove. Stupid 3 shell limit.
