Long story short, i've hunted for 3 years... this guy has been around the family farm for a couple years... and no other hunter has ever been able to take a shot. earlier in the day i had shot at a small 6 pointer, but missed. i had my wife, father and mother in law walking around the woods helping me trail it. the girls went to the neighbors corn field to have a look around for a poacher we had scared out of our land... my father in law and i were talking (quite loudly i might add) on the main trail when we saw this guy 35 yards away on the nearby bank of a pond. we followed laterally beside him. he turned and started walking towards us. he didn't spot us, so i took the shot at 25 yards. he didn't make it farther than 20 yards. i was hunting around edwardsville il, (we're not known for big bucks).. i couldn't believe that it took the whole family to take this monster. the closest anyone had gotten to him before was about 60-70 yards away (last season), but he was in a deep thicket and all we could see was the rack. he was 235lbs. for a size refrence on the picture.. i'm holding him.. and i'm 6'2 245lbs... not a small kid amazing first buck. (i had to LOL at myself.. i told myself i wasn't a trophy hunter, but this experience has been nothing but amazing) (p.s. sorry i rambled so long.. i still get really excited) Attachments:

Really nice buck, congrats. I have only shot small bucks with a bow but I get excited just the same. I have missed a big one though

Thank you everyone for the congratulations, i'll pass them around to my inlaws and wife..without them, i never would have had a shot at him. @ Coonhunter26 - - I was using a 2008 Fred Bear "Lights Out" (unfortunately my last year using the bow due to a shoulder injury incurred in the military and can no longer draw minimum weight). and P.s. Thank you Troy. I love these boards and reading everyones posts and seeing everyones pictures. Attachments:
