No, It wont necessarily differ, you WILL have a Faster bullet, but you will loose some of the "KNOCKDOWN POWER" (less mass = less kenetic energy), BUT with a coyote, ANY 30.06 round should take em down. like i stated befor, you can load your own, or go to a gun show (like the 1500 in indy) and buy bulk.

I've been looking at getting a hypo myself. One of the key things was caliber due to the limits Kentucky has on their elk; 270 is the smallest.

I've heard of pentax before, but I don't think I have ever heard of Leapers. Obviously I have'nt heard anything bad about them, or I probably would have remembered, so Thats a plus. Do a Google search for more info.

Frenchy, I'm speaking from experience here. You really get what you pay for with a scope. I would stick with an established brand like Nikon or bushnell. you don't want to get burned.

If you are going with a rifle that has some punch get a good scope from a reputable brand. Otherwise more than likely you will never shoot your guns full potential because the recoil will knock your scope off a lil every shot. A $100 16x scope sounds like a good deal for a .22LR but I wouldn't dare put it on a Savage 30-06. And to answer your lighter bullet vs accuracy question it all depends on your barrel twist. My .243 will not shoot anything over 75gr accurately because of the barrel twist, I believe it is too slow but would have to double check.
