Waterfowl season opens again here In Indiana's South Zone today and I must be like a kid at Christmas because I've been up since 4:00 and can't go back to sleep. Chase helped me make a natural blind yesterday beside a pond that has field on one side and woods on the other and usually holds ducks. I've got everything loaded in the truck and I'm just waiting a little longer to go set up. I'll post the results later when I get back; good, bad, or ugly.

Hope they're flyin' for ya. It was'nt happening this morning. Didn't see a bird, only heard a few geese way to the south. Heard a few shotgun volleys to the south, Hiilenbrand FWA I presume. I did learn a few things this morning. - My calling STINKS. I need lots of practice. - A good fitting pair of waders are VERY comfortable. - Don't drink a pot of coffee before hunting in waders. - I need to bring a better light to see where I'm tossing the decoys in the dark. - Check the water depth before you toss your decoys out of reach. The pond I hunted is only a few feet deep, but so is the mud! - November rain is COLD. (Guess I already new that.) That song kept going threw my head.... Nothin' lasts forever even cold November rainThis is me thinking.....how am I gonna get those dekes??

That's a great post! If there is one thing about waterfowl hunting I know it's that calling takes ALOT of practice and you've got to be pretty damn good to get the birds to respond. I don't do any calling when we go because I've got two buddies that are excellent callers and I leave it up to them

Loved the report Troy. Made me think of several of my past excursions. I'm not even close to an expert on this topic but still may be able to help. My calling stinks too, but you don't have to be that great if you are where the birds want to be. Key this time of year. I don't own waders (Christmas List ) But do drink coffee and if I were up @ 4:00 I would be glad I didn't own waders. Get a head lamp. Those things are great. I've owned several because I can never find where the boys left them. As far as decoy recovery, I have a 16' golf ball retriever with a hook on it. Also works as a good Lab and eats less. If I remember right that G-n-R song may not last for ever but is pretty darn long. As for this November rain I'm afraid its going to last for a couple days, causing me to wait and see in the morning.

Had many days like that Troy. We will have to get together this year and hunt. I have several spots we can go to, but I am in a power plant outage and have been since Sept 18th. 5 total days off in that time span too. We are coming to the end though, so let me know what kind of schedule you have and let's see if we can work something out.

I work one of those funky rotating schedules, but hopefully we can get together. I'll pm you this evening with the dates I'm off.
