Well in iowa if you dont get a deer during youth then you can use the tag during any gun season and i am using it during shot gun but i sit and wait for other hunters to push deer around. We decieded to go a little later since the woods would be crazy from shot gun hunters and when we got on our private property we saw fresh people tracks and then i deecided to tuck behind a tree and watch for a while and 10 minutes later i heard 2 shots and see a bunch of deer run across the road but no hunters 
and i called DNR and they came out and tracked the guys and caught them and charged them with illegal hunting and trespassing, about 30 minutes after the DNR left i heard some talking abut 50 yards in frosnt of me and to the left and heard 4 shots and then saw 2 guys with out orange on 
they were walking across the road and i stopped them and kicked them out, but i never saw any deer so what where they shooting at wel that was day one of shotgun season so will see what other crazy stuff happens tomorrow!!!

Was this the opener for shotgun in Iowa? Sounds about like the opener around here for the firearm season. Last year we found a empty gun box in our hayfield opening day someone had dumped, guess they had bought a new gun at wally world the night before. 
Just another night at work for me and Monty will be back here again bright and early.
