Can I use a scope that is not made for a shotgun on a shotgun?

you COULD... but why chance breaking it, or haveing it come back and darken your eye?

Yep. What anthony said. Shotgun scopes are made with a longer eye relief than rifle scopes so you don't get that nasty crescent moon gash over your eye.

riflescopes also tend to have way more magnification than a shotgun scope. All that zoom isn't necessary or helpful on a scatter gun.

I had a muzzeloader scope on my mossberg 500 .410 and it worked great.
