Well, after being totally stymied and shut out (thru my own errorS) during archery and then begining to seriously wonder at my skills thru the first 4 days of firearms, i was FINALLY able to get some venison in the freezer.
I was sitting on the ground, in the open, against a young willow tree, (thinking to myself "Be one with the tree, young Skywalker, be one with the tree") over looking a swampy grassy area that is shredded with scrapes. She came in to leave her scent in one of the scrapes at 5:30 last night. She walked in, spotted me almost immediately. She took one more step, and dropped her head behind a small tree. When she did, the trusty Wolf came up, and so did her head. She turned from broadside to directly facing me and made to bolt....TOO LATE! She had allowed me to get the cross hairs on her and the Wolf barked.
She was definately in full estrous, i could smell her from 20 yards away! Thats at least 2 deer that wont be causing the land owner any more crop damage!
Freezer meat...i prefer to take doe! They taste so much better than testosterone filled buck!!

Back out and at it Fri....i have more freezer space to fill/tags to burn/crops to save!!
