Got my new dutch oven today. I love my old one and it's perfect for cooking for just the family, but I wanted something BIG I could cook and fry with and this should do the trick. It's a 20qt/5 gallon Bayou Classic and came with a basket for frying. I put my old one INSIDE the new one for size reference. This is a beast, weighing in at 46 lbs. I've got a few days to get it seasoned and then it will get it's first workout this weekend at Shakamak. I'll be cooking a HUGE pot of deer chili.

I'D SAY!! Mine is around 3 gallons or so. That one is NICE!! Did it come with the frying basket and Lid Lifter? They are handy to have if you can find em for that size. That thing will make a heck of a pot of beans too!!HAVE FUN WITH IT!

I'm envious! I need a big pot like that. Where'd you get it and how much did it cost?

I'm envious! I need a big pot like that. Where'd you get it and how much did it cost? I got it at cnsstores.com and it was $97 with free shipping. Here's a link; www.csnstores.com/Bayou-Classic-74xx-BAY1052.htmlI found some Texsport 20 quart dutch ovens on ebay for $75 with free shipping, but they didn't come with a frying basket. I would have preferred an American made pot, but I wanted it for this weekend and this was what I could afford right now. I took a bath with it tonight. Actually, I washed it in the tub with hot water to get the wax off. I got all of our deer meat out of the freezer for the chili and got a nice surprise. I found a package of walleye from our spring trip to Erie! I thought we'd been out for months.

Sounds like a pretty fair price for a pot that size! When I saw the heading for this thread I thought maybe you had a mysterious "weed" growing in the backyard
