Sit as long as you can and don't move. Set yourself up downwind of a trail that connects food and bedding.

not at all, this year will be the first time in my 12 years of bow hunting I will be from a stand. If on the ground I like to put my back towards where I believe my shot will be, this puts the tree between me and the animal when the time comes to get ready for the shot. Or if your using a blind, just get it setup and brushed in real well a few days or a week in advance. You can also make brush blinds from tree limbs and natural materials, these don't spook deer, I have had them walk through them the evening after building them. One thing to remember when on the ground is you have no cover, so move when the deers head is behind a tree or facing away. You will want to make your movements quick and in one motion. I usually sit with my feet on the ground knees up tight against me. Then when the time comes all I have to do is rock forward onto my knees and lift the bow and draw in one motion. Very simple after practice.

be patient. I went all last year, and only got one shot with the bow, but if i had a gun i could have dropped 6. plan your shots. dont freak if you miss, just re-knock and maybe you'll get another shot

I would add to practice, practice, practice and know your effective range. Good luck!

make sure you practice in the same position you're planing on shooting from. nothings worse than getting out there and not being able to shoot well from your position

I'm with Troy on this one. I shoot every day from July to hunting season. You don't need to shoot a lot. Just often! Your body needs to know what to do without thinking about it. Just do it!!! Good luck

Yep, practice is the key. Make sure youre bow is operating and ready to shoot. Always be prepared and be aware of your surroundings.

O.K I'll be that guy,all you have to do is aim straight and don't use any rubber broad heads. You don't get very good penetration with rubber broad heads they seem to bounce off.
