I know some people on the inside of the IDNR, and I have heard of some big changes coming our way for 2011. This is only hear - say, I don't know what is true, what is set in stone, I'm just repeating what I was told. The 2011 deer season is going to have some big changes. Slug gun season will only last 9 days and will not open until the weekend after Thanksgiving. Muzldr. will only be 9 days as well. There will be one day in October you can hunt with a firearm and you can only take a doe..... I'm OK with the later and shorter gun seasons, I would rather bow hunt especially during the rut but I don't like a gun day during October. They are trying to grow bigger bucks,,, I think... Has anyone else heard any of this?

I though it was to reduce the over populated deer heard. Because if they shorten the gun season, they say we would not be as picky,an we wouldn't be passing up deer to wait for something more appealing. An if they want bigger bucks then they some do something like earn a buck tag like other states do. That would get the doe ratio back in check an allow more of a food sources so the deer can fat'n up for those long winter months. There is so much to say on this subject,an there is nothing I could say that would influence there disscion making on this subject. I'm not a deer biologist so that's just my .02 cents wroth. Thanks for the update keep us posted on what you hear next.

I like the "earn a buck" thing, I kind of wish they would have it here in IN.
