You should expect a much more effective shot with Imp. Cyl. You SHOULD be more accurate. try to stay away from sabboted slugs with a smooth bore, as they will not spin and mostly just tumble and loose accuracy.

With a rifled slug I would say 50 yards would be a good safe range, they can be very unpredictable. However it all depends on the gun, mine wouldn't shoot rifled slugs for nothing. I ended up buying a rifled barrel and now can fit em in a coffee can at 200(not that I need to hunt deer that distance)

We've always used the Remington Sluggers. I tried the K.O.'s one year and did kill a deer with them, but they didn't seem real accurate.

did you shoot them from a smoothbore??? Yes. We don't own any rifled barreled shotguns. You shoot "rifled" slugs through a smoothbore.

i've always just bought the winchester super-x rifled hollow point slugs. every deer ive ever killed except for 3 with a muzzleloader have been killed with them fired out of either a remington 870 or mossberg 500. i've never had to track a deer more than 30 yards after hitting them with one. btw i use a 20 gauge.
