Has anyone ever waded through Big Walnut Creek for some smallies. I was looking to try it next week sometime and didn't know if there were certain spots better than others and shallower. Any information would help. Thanks

i have a cabin on the walnut creek right next to the huffman bridge and i have caught a few bass by our cabin but i have heard of people having good luck with smallies in some places. Depending on how much rain we have had i would say that the average depth is shin to thigh deep with some deep holes. some places are more like waste deep but very managable.

bcamp, the only time I have been on Walnut we were north of Reelsville, parked at a covered bridge and went down then back up. The guy I was with caught a lot comparable average to what we were catching in Sugar Creek. Brent said he use to go there in Danville and catch a bunch, he was doing it 10 years ago and said it was better then than Sugar Creek has ever been.

Seeing as how its gettin late in the season, and i dont think i will get to go wadein anymore this year, we decided to go last night. we prob caught about 2 dozen. But THIS one was my FIRST EVER smallmouth. I just never really targeted them. The fish is only 8 or 9 inches, but he put up a great fight. Caught on the Big Walnut creek, Putnam County, IN. 09/08/10. Thank you Justin.

we went down to my cabin over labor day weekend to set drop lines for catfish but got a few chances to smallmouth fish. I caught a lot of little ones and a few nice smallies as well as two pretty big spotted bass.

Me and yjguy went back to the walnut lastnight. we only caught about 18 or so, they just werent bitein well. we Did however find a REALLY nice lookin catfishin spot. heres the pics heres my first one of the night. This is my first "MIDDLE MOUTH" of the night. Me and YJGUY Call them that, because we believe they are a smallmouth/largemouth hybred. They usually have red/orange eyes, and a spotty line rinning down their body, but also have a mouth too small to be a largemouth. Justin Little Crappie Good sized smallie. probably the biggest SMALLMOUTH of the night. about a pound.
